Jockeys vs Racing All Stars vs Melbourne weather!
Rain, hail or shine the racing industry was going in to bat for the bushfire appeal on Monday, raising important funds on the day through the eighth annual TAB National Jockeys Trust T20 Cricket.
Thanks to everyone who played, sponsored, volunteered or just braved the nasty weather to be there!
Captain of the jockeys Damien Oliver won the toss and elected to bat and racked up a solid total of 176 before the rain and wind took hold.
Shaun Cooper (22 retired) and Oliver 20 (retired) batted led the run scoring for the Jockeys.
Bryce McGain's Racing All Stars were up against the element for much of their innings, putting up a brave fight but falling well short of the jockeys total and Oliver's men reclaimed the time-honoured David Taggart Trophy.Racing.com's Ben Asgari took 1/13 off two overs with the ball for the Racing All Stars but the Racing All Stars were bowled out for 129.
Ben Thompson (21) and Melbourne Cup winning trainer Danny O'Brien (20) scored the runs for the All Stars, while Craig Newitt (2/8) led the way with the ball for the Jockeys.

The fundraising total will be announced after 27 Jan. Proceeds from the event will be donated to organisations providing aid to wildlife and livestock affected by the current bushfire crisis. The four nominated charities are: Wildlife Victoria, WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation (NSW), Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park (SA) and Wildlife Rescue Queensland.
